Bocas del Toro: Bocas Town
Our Panama kayaking trip begins in Bocas town, one of the most popular destinations in the Bocas del Toro province.
Bocas town offers travelers delicious cuisine to indulge in at the many restaurants that thrive in this seaside setting. Explore the colorful waterfront village, docks, and sandy beaches while wandering through the main streets to discover this little slice of Panama’s islands.
Don’t forget to take a peek in the many markets throughout town to learn about local ingredients and try out some tasty fresh fruit!
On our Bocas del Toro tours, we love enjoying fresh ceviche and a cold beer while looking out at the beautiful sea before we begin our kayaking trip. We meet up with our travelers in town to explore, relax, and chat about the next few days before preparing to embark on our journey.
We close our time in Bocas town by climbing aboard a private boat to take us out to our secluded island eco-resort. Enjoy the sound of the sea lapping against the boat and peer at islands passing by as we head through the water to begin our grand adventure!

Isla Bastimentos isn’t just renowned for hosting an incredible National Marine Park, which spans over 13,000 hectares and protects over 250+ marine animals, but is also a well-loved area for ecotourists looking to experience beautiful eco-lodges right in the heart of this biodiversity hotspot.

Isla Zapatillas Coral Reef Snorkeling
One of our favorite activities during our Bocas del Toro all-inclusive kayaking vacation is an afternoon snorkeling at Isla Zapatillas.
Part of the National Marine Park, this island hosts some of the most breathtaking coral reefs in Panama. The park itself has over eighty different coral species thriving under its protection, some of which are thought to be over 10,000 years old. Experience this underwater wonderland and some of the best Panama snorkeling by pulling up your kayak and immersing yourself in this colorful seascape.
Isla Zapatillas is not only one of our top snorkeling spots in Panama, but it also hosts some of our most treasured beaches and hikes. We love stopping along these pristine sandy shores and relaxing on the beach, swimming through the waves, or snorkeling through the crystal clear water to see coral and tropical fish.
Sea turtle nesting season in Panama is also coming to a close in this area during September, meaning the opportunity to spot baby hatching sea turtles is increased!
Starfish Beach on Isla Colón
There is so much to see in this region! We continue “wildlife spotting” with a stop at Starfish Beach on Isla Colón.
Starfish Beach is one of our favorite places in Panama where you can see starfish. The waters are clear and calm without much swell, and the white sands make these striking red and orange creatures pop against their surroundings!
