Who? – Boys and Girls ages 13-17 What? – Adventure expeditions, surf safaris, Spanish language classes, white water rafting, tree top tours, cultural immersion, service projects, and so much more! When? – Summer 2009 (see Summer Expeditions Schedule) Where? – From secret surf spots to wild and scenic rivers; from North to south and from sea to shining sea, all in Costa Rica How? – On your own, with a friend, no parents, two trip leaders, by plane, van, horse, surfboard, kayak, raft, zip line, canoe, foot... Why? – So you can change the world!

What are Summer Expeditions? |
The Groups - Size: 8-15 co-ed students of similar age, grade and maturity level - Led by two trip leaders, one male and one female - Participants come from all over the world, including Costa Rica!!!
The Locations and Activities
- Specific regions of Costa Rica - Back country (remote areas inaccessible by vehicle): focus on multi-day back packing, sea kayaking, surfing, horse packing, and rafting as well as Spanish language immersion, and community service... Step out of your comfort zone to learn more about the real you and what is really important in life!! - Front country tour (staying in hotels and eating in restaurants): focus on one day activities like outrigger canoeing, surfing, rafting, horseback riding, hiking, snorkeling, biking, canopy touring, cultural activities, and service projects... Immerse yourself in some environmental and cultural education.
The Experience
- Previous experience and athletic expertise are not required – Whew! - Enthusiasm required - a positive attitude will get you everywhere and much more! - Partake in chores like prepping, cooking, clean up and leadership activities for a successful trip - Learn how to cook yummy food– ceviche, fajitas, pizzas, baked desserts! - AUSun provides all camping and activity gear – you just need to bring personal items (AUSun will supply a list)
